So this is my entry to a photo contest here at work. The rules were that we had to use the Shutterfly logo decal in a creative way. Ironic that I'm posting this on Flickr.

Playing with Gravity

It's been a long while since I've posted a pic and I'm not gonna lie. I've been lazy. Nonetheless here is a new pic to get the ball rolling. Here you can see TK-420 and and TK-421 playing with gravity. The next shot in the photo set shows how the ruler and hammer were set up on the ledge of my desk.

Rulk Pilgrim

I suppose this is what it would look like if Rulk were to leave Marvel for a moment and dive into the Scott Pilgrim universe. If you're a gamer, I strongly recommend that you read this comic book, er graphic novel. So many gaming references from Street Fighter, Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy ect. I'll admit that I've never heard of this comic since I saw the first movie trailer. After reading the comic,  Michael Cera better pull off a kick ass Scott Pilgrim.

Small Medium Large

Rulk is now available in 3 different sizes! Small Rulk is from Marvel MiniMates series by Diamond Select Toys, the Rulk you've known to love is from the 4th series of the Marvel Universe by Hasbro and Large Rulk was a part of a Target exclusive. Large Rulk was previously used in the Cinco de Mayo pic.

Chidori!

Nothing special going on here, just a solo shot of Hayate Kakashi from the popular anime series Naruto. Damn I'm so behind on this series! Here in this shot he is executing his Chidori. According to the anime, Chidori translates to "One Thousand Birds" due to the sound it makes.

Thanks to Kevin Bayne for letting me borrow this figure for this shot.

Fortune Cookies Don't Exist in China

I was watching a video on TED.com the other day about a reporter named Jennifer 8 Lee (yea, thats totally her name, google it if you don't believe me.) and her hunt for General Tso. The video talks about how some Chinese dishes are almost unknown to China, such as egg rolls and chop suey, then continues to talk where they originated from. After watching this vid it inspired me to do todays picture.  Click on the pic to see what Rulk and Wall-E's fortune say. Afterwards, watch the vid.

Always be prepared

Even though Rulk possesses unmatched strength, high resistance to injury, healing factor and is expertly trained in hand to hand combat and weapons, he still prepares for a possible zombie apocalypse.

Rulk as the Filipino Barrel Man

This is one barrel you don't want to lift.

If you ever been to a Filipino household. You'll notice a few things. On their wall, you'll see a wooden spoon and fork and some form of the Last Supper, either a wood carving or a painting of it. The mother of the household will then overwhelm you asking you in her cute accent, "Ded you eeat yet?" Regardless of your answer, she will then bombard you with a feast that may either be Chicken Adobo or Diniguan. Heck maybe both. Walk over to the living room. The couches are covered in plastic. You wonder why are they covered in plastic? Then you hear the mother say, "Et jasts makes et easier to clean. You jast put a Windex and you wipe dat!"

On the mantle you see a statuette (I prefer to call it an "action figure") of a man in a barrel. These barrel men are found typically in souvenir shops in the Philippines and is identified as part of my culture. If you do encounter one of these, lift up the barrel and you'll see why I call it an "action figure."

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!

I know I'm a day late posting this, but I'm sure people are still celebrating.

Adventures of Rulk and Friends and It's Origin

So it seems that my photoset "Adventures of Rulk and Friends" on Facebook apparently has a fan base. People have been telling me, "So whens the next pic gonna be up?" or "Your Rulk photoset is one of the things that I look forward to everyweek." It brings a smile to my face to know that people are getting a kick from a simple hobby of taking pics of these toys coming to life.

So why Rulk?
It all started last Christmas when my brother-in-law Rob gave me the Rulk figure. As soon as I opened the gift, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. I thought to myself how fun it would be to take pics of Rulk doing random things. When it first started, I named the photoset "The Adventures of Rulk." Later in the photoset, I thought it would be cool to add a second character in the mix. That's when I added Wall-E and renamed the photoset "Adventures of Rulk and Friends."

How did Wall-E get into the mix?
Back when Disney acquired Marvel, I had thought that they would start selling Marvel action figures at the Disney store. I then went to the nearest mall and check it out. Unfortunately they did not. That's when I saw Wall-E and thought to myself, "Rulk and Wall-E would make good friends."

So what will happen next to Rulk and Friends?
Rulk and Friends will still continue on their random adventures, but this time outside of Facebook. The photoset will be uploaded and hosted on my Flickr account and will be linked here. Any brand new pics posted will be announced via my Facebook as well as my Twitter account.
